Decoupage Arts

The word decoupage comes from French "decouper", meaning to cut out or cut from something.

 

It is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto a base object and combined with special paint effects, gold leaf and other decorative elements.

 

Each layer is sealed with varnishes until the "stuck on" appearance disappears and the result looks like painting or inlay work.
